Most people walk right past the persimmon

Most people walk right past the persimmon

Most people walk right past the persimmon. It looks like an orange tomato sitting in the corner of the store and nobody knows what to do with it. That is a shame, because this one fruit does more for two things a man cannot afford to lose, his eyes and his heart, than almost anything else you can eat.

It is packed with two pigments, lutein and zeaxanthin, the exact filters that sit in the back of your eye and block the light that wears your vision down as you age. Your body cannot make them on its own, so you have to eat them. And the same deep orange color goes to work on your blood vessels, keeping them soft and open and pulling the bad cholesterol down while it does it.

One fruit doing the work of a handful of pills, and almost nobody touches it.
